Date Announced: The Disney Collection by Vera Bradley coming to Walt Disney World!

Published August 14, 2013 by Disneyways.com

HOORAY!! Disney has  announced a date for the big release of the Disney Collection by Vera Bradley. More great news: they are calling this the “initial” collection – which makes me think there will be more of these bags to come. Cathy Dawson, merchandiser for accessories at Disney Parks says, “We are thrilled to introduce Vera Bradley to our accessories assortment. In recent years, we’ve seen several guests in our parks and resorts sporting fun, colorful bags by Vera Bradley. Even our Disney Cruise Line team recently added some items by Vera Bradley to the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. We thought it would be wonderful to add a splash of Disney to these popular and colorful accessory items.”

Vera Bradley names all of her patterns and these are no exception. The black pattern is called “Midnight with Mickey,” while the pink pattern is named “Just Mousing Around.” These patterns will be seen on duffel bags, totes, cosmetic bags and more.

Earlier this year, I visited the  Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival  to get these photos for you of the bags on display. Needless to say, I am in love with these new bags, and I hope you are too!

Guests in Florida, mark your calendars! Disney will be holding a special release party on Saturday, September 21, at the World of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace. The event will begin at 7:30 a.m., and will feature the first opportunity to purchase items from this new collection.

In California, guests can find these new items starting Monday, September 23, in select locations at the Disneyland Resort.

If you are unable to visit Disney Parks, no worries!  Disney will be releasing the Disney Collection by Vera Bradley on the Disney Parks online store starting in October 2013.

Video! A Love Letter to the Main Street Electrical Parade

Published August 13, 2013 by Disneyways.com

The lights around the kingdom dim – and you feel the rush of excitement when you hear the words,

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! The Magic Kingdom proudly presents our spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination. In thousands of sparkling lights, and electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds: the Main Street Electrical Parade!”

If you haven’t seen it in person for a while – today is your lucky day. I sat with John from BigFatPanda.com the other night  as he filmed the entire parade from two different areas of the park and put them together in one glorious video, just for you. John calls it his “Love Letter tribute to the Main Street Electrical Parade, shot in Glorious Multi Angle Pandavision in HD including overhead Train Station”.

It’s a beautiful video and I think it is just about as close to being here as you can get. Enjoy!

Disney World Night of Joy Schedule 2013

Published August 13, 2013 by Disneyways.com

Make a joyful noise at Disney World Night of Joy 2013

NOJ

Each fall, Disney brings us encouragement and joy through the acts booked for Night of Joy.  Remember this event is not included in your regular price of admission for Magic Kingdom or even annual passes. It costs extra – so be prepared to leave the park by 7PM on these dates if you don’t have Night of Joy tickets. This is a can’t miss event if you love your Christian music sandwiched between rides on the Teacups and Space Mountain!

I think Disney works pretty hard to make sure there is a balance of high energy music and softer stuff for people like me…here’s the lineup if you want to mark you calender.

Purchase tickets while they last, by clicking HERE.

Photo from our visit to the Spirit of Aloha show located at the Poly

Do you love the Polynesian Resort like I do? There is nothing like the sights and smells of this endearingly retro Disney Resort. We spoke a bit about the this resort on a recent episode of the Disney Parks Podcast. Perhaps you have heard about all the changes that are coming to the “Poly” as it is affectionately known by Disney fans. My friend John got an inside tip about a new color scheme that is currently being tested out in one of the hallways. Check out his video to compare the old and the new colors – I would love to hear what you think!

An Interview with Pat Carroll: Voice of Ursula from The Little Mermaid

As I write this I still can’t believe it happened. The Disney Parks Podcast was fortunate enough to welcome the fabulous Pat Carroll and interview her on our podcast! You can hear as I ask her my first question, I sound like I am about 4 years old. The reason for that is I FELT like I was a little kid – talking to her childhood hero. Pat was amazingly personable, and so wonderful to speak with.

You can access  the Pat Carroll episode on the DPP website and clicking on the grey circle that has the sideways white triangle inside. Just click the link HERE. Make sure your speakers are on. We are getting so much great feedback from this episode and I hope you will check it out and enjoy it too!

Video! Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Progress

Recently I got to go to Magic Kingdom with my friend John from BigFatPanda.com. You may remember him from his recent interview with us on the Disney Parks Podcast.

While John and I were touring New Fantasyland, he got this awesome video of the progress on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Check it out in all it’s hi-def glory. There is some beautiful footage here – and I love how John explains what you are seeing.

Enjoy!
